ABOUT
The Artist
Hello and welcome! If you’ve clicked here, I’m assuming it’s to learn a little about the hands behind the art. I’ll try to keep it brief.
My name is Blythe or Bellumi and I live with my two cats, Lumi and Rina! I am a Toronto-based Bermudian artist with a passion for animals, gemstones, jewelry, art, and design. As of writing this, I am 24 years old, have been drawing since I was young, and officially been a freelance artist since mid-2019 with the intent to produce my own comics eventually. Unfortunately, I am unable to consistently work on these kinds of projects due to income but have plans for the future when my schedule is steadier and I can focus purely on my artwork.
I have ADHD, consider myself non-binary (no specific pronouns preferred), demifluid, asexual, and deal with anxiety and depression. Though these things do not specifically define me, I want to include them here to present myself fully and honestly to my audience. I believe strongly in being transparent and open about who I am, and hope that by being this way it encourages others to do so too.
As for my education, I initially graduated from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in London, England, as an officially certified gemologist. I then went on to attend George Brown College in Toronto and have since graduated from their Jewellery Methods program.
And after all of that, here I am! Trying to make art my job instead. Oops. Sorry mum and dad.
Rina
Rina is a purebred Scottish Fold and 100% not a real creature. We aren’t really sure what she is besides strange. She does NOT like to be seen cuddling because it’s embarrassing and she is a true lady, and you do NOT get to cuddle her outside of her terms.
Lumi
Semi-service animal! Lumi is a (possible) Maine Coon mix but no idea really. She loves to flirt with anyone new, ESPECIALLY men, and if you hold her she’ll get on your shoulders the second she senses an opening. When she yells it’s like her head splits open into a gaping muppet maw.
